Pavement Reunion Comes To Chicago

On the heels of their 20th anniversary, Pavement has finally embarked upon their first tour since disbanding in 1999. This is a big deal. So much in fact that once the official statement of a reunion had been made by the band and their label, Matador Records, the first show announced in Central Park sold out in literally two minutes. From there, the small tour that frontman Stephen Malkmus had envisioned quickly into a full-blown world tour, playing mostly festivals from Denmark to Barcelona's Primavera Sound Festival. Making their way stateside earlier this year, Pavement wowed ardent fans at the Coachella and Sasquach! Fesivals. For those of us in or near Chicago, our wait is finally over on July 18th when they take the stage to headline the sold-out night three of Pitchfork Festival. For anyone not familliar with their expansive and influential body of work, and lucky enough to be at Pitchfork Sunday do not miss this set. You will be part of a (most likely) once-in-a-lifetime experience.
