Dancing The Night Away At North Coast Music Festival.

While some would argue that a festival like this is no good in Chicago, or that it popped up so last minute, in a world of other festivals, others would be dancing mad, hula hooping, and blowing bubbles. All to the sounds of the Jam Scenes finest, at North Coast Music Festival. We could only make it Saturday, due to schedule conflict, but let me start from the beginning.



We arrived mid-afternoon, to the sound of Grace Potter & The Nocturnals in the air, we picked up our credentials, and in we went. What we found waiting for us when we arrived was nothing short of a treat. A group of kids from just about every demographic, drinking, dancing, and enjoying the party dubbed as summers last stand. There was art scattered throughout the park, great food, and unique beer choices. The only bad thing was that beer was $5.00, but that's the standard concert price, I suppose.



The Festival was nicely layed out, the two bigger stages almost side by side, and the Electronic Stage snuggled nicely away in a shelter of trees. There was also a Red Bull Local Stage, located near the Food Area.




The music for the evening was great, we had one of the finest in the Jam Scene, Umphrey's Mcgee, and we had Moby, the man who started it all in the techno world. This was the first time I had seen both acts, I had high hopes for Umphreys, but wasn't expecting much from Moby.




Umphrey's Mcgee blew me away, just as good live, if not better, then what I had heard and was expecting. They had a colorful light show to compliment the music, the lights swirling all around.




Moby also blew me away. His set was filled with pounding bass, which promped the entire crowd to dance to grind on one another, crammed in such a small area.




All in all, I can honestly say that North Coast Music Festival was a great time, and I really hope we see it back next year.
