Today sees the long-awaited US release of The Gift’s new album Explode, and in celebration, the band is offering up a free MP3 download for “RGB,” a track found on the band’s sixth studio release (and check out the video too!). Fresh off the heels of the band’s performance at Rock In Rio, they’ll be heading to North America for a full tour, which kicks off on October 7th at FILTER Magazine’s Culture Collide festival, then continues across North America where it wraps up on the East Coast in mid October.

The band has taken the DIY approach for nearly 17 years- they manage themselves, finance their own recordings, and produce some of the most visually-stunning live shows around (check out this video of “My Sun” for an idea). They’ve also shared the stage with some of the world’s biggest artists, including The Flaming Lips and Arcade Fire, all while topping charts worldwide.

The Gift may be a new name to some here in the U.S., but this isn’t an overnight success story. Made up of Nuno Gonçalves, John Gonçalves, Miguel Ribeiro, and their beautiful, and amazingly versatile lead singer Sónia Tavares, this is a band at the top of their game, nearly two decades later.
