Say Anything is a mixture of indie and punk music, but a good mixture. One thing about them is, everyone of their tunes is a really easy, good listen, at least in most people opinions. Say Anything is probably most famous for their song “Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too!” Which was released way back in 2005 on their CD “…Is a Real Boy.” They changed their sound just enough to the point where they didn’t become sellouts. That point was proven on March 13th, recent album “Anarchy, My Dear” was let loose. Two songs off of this CD stood out, probably because they were the singles. The first single that was released from this CD was “Burn a Miracle,” which starts off with rhythmic clapping and their singer yelling “one, two, three, four and five. Blood ran cold, but I’m coming alive.” Those lines really just stood out, they tickle your curiosity enough to keep listening. No two people think one song means the same thing, but according to the band it’s about subverting society and destroying the boundaries humankind has placed upon ourselves both physically and in our minds. After listening it’s easy to see where they’re coming from. On Feb. 4th 2012 the band released their second single from this CD, “Say Anything,” was what they named it. The song has got a really mellow, upbeat, chill rhythm in the beginning, it gets heavier, it loses the “mellow” and replaces it with, for lack of a better word, toe tapper and head nodder. As much as this song makes you want to kick back and smoke a blunt, it’s a pretty crazy song. It talks about past and previous world problems and how they need to be resolved. This CD was supposed to be their first “real” punk album, the meaning behind the whole CD, is the same meaning of their song “Burn a Miracle.” It’s the first song on the CD for a reason, right? The difference between them and a band like The Offspring is that through the years they’ve been a band they haven’t changed their sound to fit in and stay in the spotlight.
