Live Review: The Airborne Toxic Event at Chicago's Vic Theater.
Last night, The Airborne Toxic Event took the stage at The Vic Theatre in Chicago with an uproar. They started off the show with high energy while they played their hit “Gasoline.” The band had a playful banter with each other on the stage and with the crowd. They spent the night feeding off the energy of the crowd and using it as fuel to put on an excellent show. For “Happiness is Overrated”, Mikel Jollet put down his guitar to go into the crowd and interact and sing alongside some of his biggest fans.
They played a various setlist that included one song that they have only played three times. They saved their biggest hits like “Sometime Around Midnight” and “Timeless” for the end of the show. For their encore, Mikel Jollet and Anna Bullbrock were the only two to return for the first couple songs using only a violin and acoustic guitar to perform an intimate encore. The other three members returned halfway through a song to pick up the upright bass, keys, and hand percussion.
The Airborne Toxic Event is an impressive group of multi-instrumentalists who truly know how to put on a high energy show.
