Forecastle Festival 2014 Lineup Announced: Outkast, Jack White, Beck
A diverse lineup for Forecastle Festival will make waves on the Louisville, Kentucky waterfront for the event's 12th installment this year. Outkast, Jack White and Beck will all headline the event, which will again take place at the city's Waterfront Park – which is located between the Ohio River and downtown Louisville – between July 18th and July 20th.
Other artists set to perform at the three-day fest include the reunited lineup of the Replacements, Band of Horses, Jenny Lewis, Against Me!, Spoon, Dwight Yoakam, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Local Natives, Gary Clark, Jr., among others. The full lineup can be found on the fest's website.
One standout on the list is math-rock minimalists and Louisville natives Slint. The group, which has reformed off an on over the years, is putting out a limited-edition, boxed set edition of their groundbreaking second album, 1991's Spiderland, on April 15th. The album is completely remastered and it contains 14 unreleased outtakes and demos, a 104-page book with a foreword by Will Oldham and a 90-minute DVD documentary about the group titled Breadcrumb Trail, which will reportedly tell the group's story as well as that of the Louisville scene that produced it. The band's Forecastle performance is its first Louisville appearance in nearly a decade.
In addition to its music offerings, Forecastle highlights the region's food and arts scenes, as well as the state's "bourbon heritage." This year it will be introducing a new feature called the Kentucky Landing, which will offer local food trucks, craft beer and vendors selling goods made in Kentucky.
Festival passes go on sale Friday, March 7th, at noon EST. An on-sale date for single tickets has yet to be announced.
