Grammys. 2015. The biggest night for music. Nothing goes unnoticed and everything is discussed from the best and worst dressed on red carpet, to the somber performances throughout the night, to Josh Duhamel tripping up the steps. When looking at the big winners of the night, one specific person came out on top this year, winning a total of four Grammys. Nominated for six Grammys, Sam Smith definitely won this round, taking home the awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best New Artist.

Born Samuel Frederick Smith, Sam Smith (22), is an English pop and R&B singer/songwriter. Smith is well-known for his song, "Stay With Me," which helped him grab Record and Song of the year, but he first came into fame when he was featured on the single "Latch" by Disclosure. Since then, Smith has released an EP consisting of four songs, and his debut album In the Lonely Hour, which includes "Stay with me" and "Money on My Mind," both reaching no. 1 on the UK singles chart.

Sam Smith - Stay With Me:

Smith gained inspiration for this album from his past love life and thanks his ex for "breaking [his] heart cause it got [him] four Grammys." We are reminded of Adele, who won six Grammys in 2012 the same way. In an interview with Digital Spy on the album, Sam said,
"My debut album is just a diary from a 21-year-old. I fell in love with someone who didn't love me back, and it made me get into his head space of, 'Will I find love? When will I find love?' This album is my 'f**k off' to everyone and basically say, 'No, I have been in love and, if anything, it was much more painful than your version', because I'm not getting what I want and it's so close. So it's my way of defining what is love, and how unrequited love is just as painful, just as powerful, as what we call 'normal' love."

His performance at the show was most inspiring as well. His voice, paired up with Mary J. Blige's, provided heart-wrenching, soulful vocals that would make any person want to tear up. It didn't help that the orchestra and a number of choir members joined in to provide angelic harmonies proper for any vulnerable love song.
