The Word Announces Tour Dates and New Album
Written By: Jayde Plaza
The Word (Robert Randolph, John Medeski, and the North Mississippi Allstars (Luther Dickinson, Cody Dickinson, and Chris Chew)) announces tour dates and new album for this year. After 14 year, their new album, Soul Food, comes out May 5th from Vanguard Records.
Soul Food reflects the geography of the band, beginning in New York, and ending in Memphis, Tennessee. The band was started in 1998 when Medeski, Martin & Wood took North Mississippi Allstars on their first tour. Down the road, John Medeski and Luther Dickinson came up with the idea of recording an instrumental gospel album with the Allstars. When they learned that Robert Randolph, a sacred steel star (a pedal steer guitar used in sanctified churches), lived in New Jersey, they invited him to join.
Check out their single "Come By Here."
