Tips For A Great Grammys Viewing Party

The Grammy Awards are this Sunday. It would be so much fun to be at the main event, but if you can't attend why not make watching the event an event itself? Viewing parties can be so much fun! Gather your friends, gossip about what the stars are wearing, cheer for your faves, and act like you're a part of the scene.

Here are some tips to throwing a great Grammys viewing party:

  • Dress To Impress. Honey you may not be a star in everyday event, but in your living room you're the biggest star! Throw on something sexy and sequined and give Beyonce a run for her money. Encourage everyone in attendance to dress like their favorite musician - you could even hand out awards for most glitter, best makeup, etc.

    • Creative Cocktails. Make a few signature drinks that your guests will fall "Drunk in Love" with. Come up with your own concoctions or rename your favorite drinks with music themed names.

      • Sensational Snacks. As with the drinks, find foods that allow themselves to be renamed for the event. For example: Basement Jaxx are nominated for Best Dance Recording for "Never Say Never," so serve up some Never Say Never Nachos. Reference Pharrell with some "Happy" Jalepeno Poppers. Don't forget some M&Ms - Eminem is a nominee after all.

        • Create a Bangin' Playlist. This is not the Super Bowl, so commercial breaks are downtime. Keep the festivities turnt up by turning commercial breaks into mini dance parties. Look through the list of nominees and pick your favorite songs. Throw in some remixes for ballads to keep everything flowing.

          • Swag Bags. Every award show has swag bags filled with the latest gadgets and goodies. Your guests might not be "Royals" (I know- lame Lorde reference- but I had to) but make them feel like they are with a goodie bag with your favorite lotion, baked goods, or anything shiny.

            • Rock The Vote. Hand out voting sheets so your guests can feel like the voting academy and predict who they think will win. Hand out an award to the person with the most correct predictions.
