2014 was a great year for movies, with monumental films such as Boyhood, fun drama-comedies like The Grand Budapest Hotel, and poignant historical dramas such as Ida. However, at the Oscars this year, there was one film that stood at in terms of how many awards it won.
The film tells the story of an actor during the days prior to the opening of a Broadway play he is acting in. The actor, played by Michael Keaton, who used to play a great superhero, deals with internal struggles in the darkly comic film.
Birdman, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu (Amores Perros, Biutiful) took the prize in many categories this year. This dramedy won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography.
