The band Geographer is set to release their fourth studio album on March 24th. Mike Deni, the groups songwriter and vocalist, wanted to show the prevalence of songwriting in music today, which is commonly understated. The album, Ghost Modern, was recorded in Tiny Telephone Studios in San Francisco. San Francisco is also where Mike Deni wrote most of the music for the album. He spent days on the beach writing his music, and when he couldn't think of where to go in a song, he would walk along the water and "run lines in his head over and over." He says that the ocean inspired him. “The vision of that massive swath of blue, promising so much beneath and revealing so little on the surface, so terrifying but so beautiful, like ourselves. It was a huge image in my mind, it finds its way into a lot of songs, most notably ‘I'm Ready,’” he says. The album is full of perfectly arranged synthesized and orchestral sounds that help slowly build each song into its full glory. With his beautiful vocals, the songs swell and come alive, and then they come together, much like the ocean. In regards to the album, Deni states, "I pushed past Post Modernism into something darker, something emptier: Ghost Modernism." The band will begin their tour tomorrow, March 12th, and will continue through March 28th, making a special appearance at SXSW on March 18th through March 21st. Geographer will begin touring again starting May 6th and ending May 30th. Check out their full list of tour dates and the cities they will be touring below.  Mark Deni has also filmed an acoustic version of his song "I'm Ready" and premiered it on purevolume.com. The video is a perfect representation of Geographer's music, and it shows the musicality of Deni's tracks. You can watch the video here:
