Metallica to Release "No Life 'til Leather" for Record Store Day
For Record Store Day on April 18, Metallica will be releasing No Life 'til Leather as a limited edition cassette. Originally recorded in 1982, the tracks have been remastered without altering the original mixes. The songs include the band's original lineup, with James Hetfield as lead vocalist and guitar, Lars Ulrich on drums, Dave Mustaine as lead guitar, and Ron McGovney on bass. On the tape, Metallica says:
"This year, we decided to celebrate Record Store Day with our friends at independent retail by taking a huge leap back in time to our humble beginnings with that little rectangle of plastic known as the 'demo tape.' In 1982 we recorded seven songs that became our initial calling card known as No Life 'til Leather and it led us to our first record deal... the rest, as some of you may know, is history! We hope you enjoy this little walk down memory lane with us and that you will continue to join us i supporting independent record stores around the world."Listen to "The Mechanix," the second track from their No Life 'til Leather demo below:
About Metallica:
The band was formed in 1981 by drummer, Lars Ulrich, and guitarist and vocalist, James Hetfield. One of the most successful rock bands in history, Metallica has sold over 110 million albums worldwide, and have made several multi-platinum albums. Their best-selling album, "Metallica," is also known as "The Black Album," and is the best selling ablbum in Soundscan's history. Most impressively, Metallica has won several awards, including nine Grammys, two American Music Awards, and multiple MTV Video Music Awards. They were also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum back in 2009. More recently, in 2013, the band performed in Antarctica, where the audience had to wear headphones in order to protect the environment.
