Every Other Summer - Wilco's Solid Sound Festival Documentary Out Now
Wilco's recently discovered Solid Sound Festival is finally getting the recognition, revealing a behind-the-scenes look at the band's art and music festival. Wilco is known to be very focused on their music and connecting with their fans on a deeper level than most bands typically do. Taking place in MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA, the documentary entitled Every Other Summer sheds light on the various people involved in this small town festival and its formation.
Jeff Tweedy of Wilco discussed and compared appreciation for a painting to the community Solid Sound has drawn in. “When you are looking at a painting you aren’t so mesmerized by that one piece of art as much as you are by the thought that someone created it. That’s the part that is inspiring and beautiful. As long as there are people making things, there will always be a community where people find what they need. Solid Sound is a part of that community.”
Directed by Christoph Green and Brendan Canty, Every Other Summer is a documentary about the Solid Sound Festival, Wilco’s three day music and arts gathering that takes place once every two years at MASS MoCA. Shot at the most recent festival and featuring performances by Wilco, Neko Case, Yo La Tengo, The Dream Syndicate, Lucius, Foxygen, Sam Amidon, Sean Rowe, The Relatives and appearances from Reggie Watts, John Hodgman, Jen Kirkman and others, Every Other Summer offers a peek into the festival’s utopian vibe, and the positive transformative impact it has had on the small rust belt town of North Adams, MA.Check out the trailer and view the documentary in full by purchasing it here.
