Yoko Ono Rushed To Hospital

Legendary singer, artist, and activist Yoko Ono, 83, was rushed to the hospital on Friday night after what was initially reported as a possible stroke. Page Six reported that Ono called 911 and said she was fearing that she was having a stroke. News sites had conflicting reports with ABC New reporting that Ono was hospitalized for serious flu like symptoms.

Ono's spokesperson, Elliot Mintz, stated to ABC, "To the best of my knowledge, she had symptoms along the lines of a serious flu, and her doctor thought it was best that she would get a check-up at the hospital. There is no stroke and there are no life threatening circumstances as has been described to me."

"It’s just an advanced case of the flu," concluded Mintz, "hopefully will be released as early as tomorrow."

Police told CBS New York that Ono was taken to Mount Sinai West Hospital, while the FDNY told the station that she was unconscious when she was taken from her apartment in the Dakota Building at 9:05 pm. It is not clear whether Ono was alone when she was rushed to Mount Sinai West by ambulance.

Ono has lived in the Dakota Building since 1973. Her husband, John Lennon, was shot and killed outside the building in 1980 as he and Ono were returning home. Lennon died at the same hospital that Ono was rushed to Friday night (known as Roosevelt Hospital at the time of Lennon's death.)
