Ten Artists You Should Check Out At Coachella
Coachella, taking place for two weekends this April, kind of kicks off the entire festival season. We all know Radiohead, the artist that will replace Beyonce, and Kendrick Lamar, but there are a magnitude of other fantastic artists on the lineup this year we also feel you need to see. After all, discovering new music is half the fun!
Classixx
Classixx are an electropop duo from Los Angeles, and have released a lot of remixes you've probably heard and love. They also have a lot of great original tunes, and have been known to collaborate with a lot of bands including LCD Soundsystem! Catch them on the Saturdays of Coachella.
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are a garage rock band from Melbourne, Australia. They will be making their Coachella debut this April. These guys have a new album, Flying Microtonal Banana coming on February 24th, and have previewed two singles from it. Don't miss them on the Fridays of Coachella.
Pond
Pond are a psychedelic rock band, featuring a revolving lineup of members whom also play live from time to time with Tame Impala. Kevin Parker, who fronts Tame Impala, is a former member of the band and still produces for them. Be sure to jam out with them on the Sundays of Coachella!
Little Dragon
Little Dragon are a Swedish downtempo electronic band, whom are honestly one of my personal favorite bands. These guys play one of the most intense and beautiful live shows you will ever see. DO NOT MISS THEM on the Fridays of Coachella.
Chicano Batman
Chicano Batman are a spacey, soul influenced rock band from Los Angeles. They have opened up for Jack White on his Lazaretto tour, and always put on a great show. You can catch them on the Saturdays of Coachella.
Goldlink
Goldlink sound is densely weighted with shimmering polyrhythmic sounds, constructed with formidable producers like Kaytranada, Lakim and Louie Lastic. His sound milks nostalgic cuts of 90s hip-hop and R&B and the area’s natural go-go heritage with transcending circadian drops of EDM and Afro-Caribbean drum patterns. GoldLink’s raps are calculated, tackling them with a roller-coaster delivery, with a distinct voice and unmeasurable cadence. You can see him on the Sundays of Coachella.
Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks had recorded their first album in guitarist Cadien Lake James’ basement in 2012 before even graduating. Their follow up, 2014’s Wild Onion, gave them more time and freedom to write songs while already having released music through an LA-based indie label, and have followed up again with another LP in 2016 titled Down In Heaven. They have been touring the country since then, entertaining crowds with their crazy guitar antics and enthusiasm for some good ol’ over-the-top rock ‘n’ roll spirit. They are on the Sundays of Coachella.
Tacocat
Tacocat is a punk rock quartet from Seattle, with a lot of fun, sarcastic songs about serious issues. They will be recording the theme song for the Powerpuff Girls reboot, and have three full length albums, most recently, Lost Time which was released in 2016. Tacocat will be rocking the Fridays of Coachella.
Grace Mitchell
Grace Mitchell is a fantastic alternative singer songwriter from Portland who has worked with Mark Foster from Foster the People in the studio, and has a great edge to her music yet somehow still made it poppy and catchy. Check out her brand new track below and be sure to see her on the Sundays of Coachella.
Declan Mckenna
Declan McKenna is an English indie singer-songwriter who won Glastonbury's Emerging Talent Competition in 2015. Since then, he released a track "Brazil" which reached number one on Alt Nation's Top 18, has played the NME awards, and made his American live debut in 2016. Declan is doing big things. See him on the Saturdays of Coachella.
