Death Cab For Cutie's Chris Walla Starts Record Label!

Chris Walla – guitarist for Death Cab for Cutie and producer for bands as varied as Hot Hot Heat, the Postal Service, the Thermals, the Decemberists, and Tegan and Sara – has just added yet another entry to his ever-increasing résumé. Pitchfork reports that the celebrated indie guitarist/ producer is now the head of his own Atlantic Records imprint label, Trans (not to be confused with the worst Neil Young record of all time, ever, Trans).


Walla isn’t wasting time, either. Trans has already signed its first band – Anacortez, Washington’s indie rockers Lonely Forest – and Walla will be producing their third disc this spring. And, if Walla’s understated and golden touch extends beyond his excellent guitar-playing and knob-twisting, the hopefully soon-to-be-expanding Trans roster will be one to keep an eye on.
