The group released their first full-length, self-titled CD on record label iheartcomix, in October, 2006. Matt & Kim played at the Siren Music Festival, a free music concert held in Brooklyn, on Coney Island, and at Chicago's Lollapalooza in 2007, and have appeared on MTV2 as program hosts. Their music video for "Yea, Yeah" has also been shown on the station, and the video for "5K" has been shown on MTV Europe, but was said to be too violent for the US.
Their second album, Grand, was released on January 20, 2009 on Fader Label. They have a do-it-yourself attitude towards their music. They also have a wide-ranging musical taste, including top 40 hip hop. The band, however, insists that there are industries they will never collaborate with, such as cigarette companies. On August 26, 2009, Matt & Kim played the song "Daylight" on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.. Furthermore, the track has also featured on FIFA 10 and NBA Live 10 as a remixed version featuring De La Soul. 'Daylight' is also on the NBA Live 10 soundtrack and the Need for Speed: Nitro soundtrack. A version of the song with all of the lyrics changed to Simlish is used for the "Indie" radio station in The Sims 3. On September 13, they won Breakthrough Video for their video "Lessons Learned" at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. The duo won again for video "Lessons Learned" at the MTVu Woodie awards.
The song "Cinders" appeared in episode two of the HBO series 24/7 which starred boxers Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.
They have the cutest songs, of all time. They have a very bright future, ahead, for them.
