Australia’s Art vs. Science Announces New EP & Share "Magic Fountain" Video!

Australian trio Art vs. Science may sound familiar to those paying attention to the international electronic circuit - the band has built a huge following in their native country off the back of two independently released EPs (both of which have gone Gold) and thanks to their off-the-wall live show that has seen them ascend to almost-headline status at festivals around their native country. Now we’re thrilled to announce their first U.S. release, Magic Fountain EP, out March 15, 2011.

The EP, recorded by Berkfinger (Philadelphia Grand Jury) and mixed by Adrian Bushby (Two Door Cinema Club, Foo Fighters, Muse), is dance music made for Marshall stacks. Imagine AC/DC throwing robots in a drum shop. The songs that comprise the EP are huge, off the wall, unrelenting dance tunes that sound like hypercolor jams forged from sleepless nights and ADD (partly because they are).

Such genre-bending is central to the band’s appeal, not to mention their own sanity. Perhaps front-man/keyboardist Dan Mac put it most succinctly: “I don't know what
we sound like and we're not trying to figure it out either. We just play it and if we like it then that's what it sounds like"

What Art vs. Science do arrive at is a thumping electronic hybrid of sounds that’s unusual in its execution- they don’t use computers, backing tracks, or samples. Every sound they record, and perform during their frenetic live show is made by cranking keyboards through guitar amps and a single drumkit.

The distinct tones, absurd humor, restless exploration of craft and commitment to performing- its humanity, if you will - is what makes Art vs. Science so unique. And such a proud testament to their most compelling communal emotion: fun.
