Five Indie and EDM Artists That Bring the Chill

Whether you're studying, reading, driving, falling asleep, or just straight up relaxing, music can be an integral part of setting the mood. But when trying to chill out, you can't just listen to any music. You need music that's smooth, that's soothing, that can create that ambient noise you sometimes crave.

Here are five artists we recommend to help you loosen up.

Mr. FijiWiji
Born Brendan Galdo, Mr. FijiWiji is a chillout/EDM artist from Pittsburgh, PA. In 2013 he created a stir among fans when he remixed a Justin Bieber hit, as diehard fans of chillstep claimed he had become a "sellout." But regardless of opinions of Bieber or artists like him, it's undeniable that Mr. FijiWiji's discography is definitely one that you can chill to.

Baths
Baths, also known by his real name, Will Wiesenfield, is an American electronic artist from California. His music is often soft and smooth, with gentle beats and piano hooks that suck you in. In 2010 a local radio station called Baths "LA's big new electronica musician." His songs are great to listen to while studying, driving or just getting lost on thought.

XXYYXX
Marcel Everett is an electronic/chillstep artist from Orlando, FL. Going by the stage name XXYYXX, Everett creates mellow tunes that are sure to make your brain turn to mush. Songs like "About You" will lull you with lilting melodies and beats that are in no hurry to get anywhere.

Cashmere Cat
Magnus August Høiberg, known by the stage name Cashmere Cat, is a Norweigan DJ. He got his start in 2012 remixing songs by Lana Del Rey, 2 Chainz and Jeremih.

Glass Animals
Glass Animals is a band from Oxford consisting of Dave Bayley (lead vocals, guitar, tambourine), Drew MacFarlane (guitar, keys, backing vocals), Edmund Irwin-Singer (bass, keys, backing vocals), and Joe Seaward (drums). There isn't a single song in this band's discography that isn't going to make you feel like you're walking barefoot through the rainforest. They are the ultimate band to chill to.
